Three recent bathrooms, shown as we handed them over. The first is a poolside bathroom: a long oak double vanity with an open shelf underneath for towels, a white quartz top, two framed mirrors, and black wall lights on a shiplap wall, over a grey hexagon tile floor.

The second is a bathroom built around a frameless glass corner shower, with black fixtures, a tiled niche, and an oak vanity under a round lit mirror. The third is the double shower from the ensuite of our Highpointe home: two sets of fixtures side by side on large-format tile, each with a rain head, a hand shower, and its own shelves.

What to look for in this work

A vanity designed for wet towels

A bathroom that serves a pool is used differently from an ensuite. The open shelf under this vanity holds a stack of towels where wet hands can reach them, the drawers are kept above it, and the floor is a small-format tile with plenty of grout lines for grip.

Custom vanities in the same oak

Both vanities shown here were built in our shop in oak with flat shaker fronts and black pulls. A custom vanity is sized to the wall it sits on, so there is no filler strip at the end and no dead space beside the toilet.

Frameless glass shows the tile work

A frameless corner shower has no metal channel to hide the edges, so the tile has to finish cleanly at the glass, the niche has to line up with the grout, and the base has to slope to the drain without a visible hump. This is where careful setting is easiest to see.

Two showers, one wall

In the double shower each person gets a rain head, a hand shower, and corner shelves, mirrored about the centre of the wall. Two sets of valves means two sets of supply lines roughed in at matching heights before the tile goes on, which is decided on paper long before it is visible.
