Renovation advice

What happens during a renovation consultation?

What to prepare, what we discuss, and how a renovation idea becomes a clear scope before construction.

A useful renovation consultation is not a sales presentation. It is a working conversation about your home, the problems you want to solve, and the decisions required before construction can begin.

Before the consultation

Start with the room or area, your priorities, preferred timing, and the budget range you are comfortable discussing. Inspiration photographs help explain the feeling you want, while photographs of the existing space help us understand its current condition.

What we discuss

  • Goals and daily use. We look beyond finishes to understand how the space needs to work.
  • Scope. We identify what may stay, what should change, and whether layout, structural, plumbing, or electrical work could be involved.
  • Priorities and tradeoffs. Clear priorities help protect the parts of the project that matter most.
  • Planning requirements. Where permits or professional drawings may be needed, we explain that before construction.

What happens next

If the project is a good fit, the next stage develops the scope, selections, permitting needs, and budget in greater detail. Amend follows a four-stage process: consultation and vision, planning and permitting, construction, and a final walkthrough.
